This is a book club for writers or people who want to read like writers. We'll discuss technique, tone, and tricks of the trade found in fiction novels, as well as the all important question of whether or not what we're reading is a good story.

Examining someone else's writing often naturally improves one's own writing and learning to read as a writer is, I think, a necessity to being a great storyteller.

One fiction novel a month.

What members are saying

It's a great way to read some great lit and learn more about yourself as both a reader and a writer.

This bookclub seems to be doing a great job focusing the discussion on what the writers did well and how to learn fro

I am currently unable to write much, for medical reasons, so I thought that reading like a writer would be a helpful exercise. My niece, who work a NY literary agent, mentioned how working there has changed the way she reads.

I am a recovering attorney. It took me 21 years of greed to discover that conflict is/was not my thing. For 10 years, the Argentine Tango has been my release; now, however, after years of legal encrustation, my writing voice is calling again.

I would like to start writing again. I remember the courses I took in school were about 50% reading and 50% writing. You have to learn from the masters.

I'd like to join this meetup because I do a lot of writing and editing in my job and think this would be a way to learn to approach it different and new ways.
