Greensboro Classic British Lit Book Club

Meet kindred classic literature aficionados in a local Book Club! The focus of our club will be classic British literature, primarily of the 19th century. From the genteel elegance of Jane Austen's world to the seamy underside of Arthur Conan Doyle's and Charles Dickens' London, we'll read and discuss it all. Henry James, William Thackeray, the Brontės, Thomas Hardy, Lewis Carroll, and Oscar Wilde are just some of the many other authors from whom we have to choose. For purposes of comparison, we also may read Louisa May Alcott, Edgar Allen Poe, Nathaniel Hawthorne and other 19th century American authors.

When appropriate, we'll conduct our book discussion while enjoying a proper English tea--imagine discussing "Alice in Wonderland" while attending a Mad Hatter Tea Party! Come join us and make new friends while enjoying the classic books that rarely find their way into book clubs anymore.

If you're tired of the latest homogenized bestseller and long for writers who know how to construct a literate sentence, you belong in this group. Join those who appreciate the beauty of the English language and literature which uplifts the soul!
