Well, the meeting did not start out well. I got to the location only to find that the meeting room was full of women who looked very entrenched and not about to leave. So I checked at the counter and apparently, they had not written my reservation down.
Hm. But, it was no problem because they kicked out a couple sitting at a large table and offered that to me instead. I felt terrible for the couple, but they were very sweet and accommodating. So I sat down, propped the book up in front of me and waited. Soon Julie arrived and I was quite relieved to see her. Soon after Julie arrived, Christine arrived as well. I tried to take a picture of them (hey, the meetup guidelines suggested it!) but they were not too thrilled about that. ![]() Soon, Vijaya, Kitty, and Dan also arrived. I was very relieved (as a new organizer) that the group was wonderful and everyone was intelligent and had great insights to offer about the book. I had a great time and was so glad to meet everyone. At the end of the meeting (after much talking about the book and several other books we had all ready), we decided on books for the following two months and also decided that the location and time of the second Tuesday of the month worked for everyone. I scheduled a table (not the room) at the Caribou we were at and I have scheduled two new meetings. We also discussed using the message boards to talk about other books we are reading. Everyone in the group is a prolific reader and it is very likely we have read or are reading the books everyone else is reading (lol, I'm not sure if that makes sense). So thank you guys so much for coming! Edited by Jenny on May 13, 2008 9:47 PM |

It was a great meeting Jenny (fun group!) and the table worked just fine, so a big thanks to you for organizing! I'm really looking forward to reading the books we chose.
