Hi Everyone!

I just started this group a few hours ago and was happily shocked that we already have 3 members. I think it is going to be so exciting to get together once a month and discuss womens issues through reading various books on the subject. I consider myself a "born again feminist" (its a term I picked up on the internet, it doesn't pertain to religion in anyway however) and have been very verbal and active in spreading the word about the issues women deal with in our modern world. The fact that our male counterparts are still on average getting paid more that we do (women tend to earn 77 cents on a mans dollar for equal work) is just one fact that has motivated me into becoming more educated on our gender issues.
Anyway, I really look forward to meeting with you all and I hope to get to know everyone pretty well. As I said I really hope you like the first read I picked. "The Feminine Mistake" is a great book and sheds some light on the issue of the "working wife/mother". Whether you disagree or agree it is a great book. I hope to have a colorful discussion about it when we meet.
Besides reading the book I would like the members to bring book ideas for the next read. I don't want to always decide. I'd like to give everyone a chance to have their pick read.
Well I'm off for now, anytime you want to chat just shoot me an email through the group or directly at gmsurgey@gmail.com. I also have AIM, YM, Google Chat and my name is gmsurgey on them all if you would like to IM Me.
I'm really looking forward to this group's future.
Yours Truly,
-Katy Buys
