a ne{o}lit book club
|
Knowledgeable and fun adults discussing contemporary literature several times a month in the Cleveland area. Expect provocative, at times, controversial reading. Enjoy fun conversation, food, alcoholic and NA drinks. No sticklers please... We try and alternate between fiction and non-fiction and are very open to book suggestions. Come share your love of reading and conversation! (And no penalties for not finishing the book on time either.)

WITH A CONVERSATION WITH THE AUTHOR, MONICA HOLLOWAY!
Hey all! As promised/threatened, we'll be reading Monica Holloway's memoir, Driving With Dead People for May/June. (The meetups will be earlier in the month for the next few to counteract some summer vacations.) It's a captivating, easy to read and engrossing story that just happens to be a memoir of the author's childhood. Read more

"I REALLY enjoyed both Kite and Splendid Suns - even though they were so similar that at times I felt the storylines were going to overlap. I also really liked the book by Marisha Pessl. It took a little while to get to the plot, but then I was hooked. I can't make it to the meet, either. I RSVP'd yes but just realized I have concert tickets for tomorrow. Maybe next time. Even though I haven't made it to a meeting yet, the pressure of finishing the book on time has kept me motivated to read!"
-
"When I moved into my current apartment, I intentionally bought no TV or Internet service so I'd read more books. It worked."

"Hi Nicole, Good to see you at the movie. Sorry we didn't get a chance to talk more. Did you really like Kite Runner? I thought Thousand Splendid Suns was better. I just requested Special Topics in Calamity Physics from the library, but I won't be able to make the discussion."
