We're not really a Book Club, however, we are a group of "Glad Game Players" based on the story of Pollyanna written by Eleanor H. Porter in 1913.

Bringing sunshine into the life of everyone she meets, Pollyanna goes to live with her Aunt Polly in Beldingsville, who is a strict and dutiful maiden that is too wrapped up in appearances, propriety, and local politics to appreciate her bubbly and sweet natured niece.

Pollyanna soon exclaims, "Oh, Aunt Polly, I don't know how to be glad enough that you let me come to live with you!". From this point on, Pollyanna brings cheer to the sick, the lonely, the miserable and everyone she meets.

Visit your local Library to check-out the Pollyanna book, audio tapes or movie, and learn the art of positive thinking. You can even find the full text of the book online at Bibliomania. See how Pollyanna changes the lives of everyone around her. Note: There are many versions. I suggest starting with the original versions first.

<1960 and 2003>

Pollyanna's eternal optimism has made her one of the most beloved characters in American literature. In the next years, her story spawned the formation of "Glad" clubs all over the country, devoted to playing Pollyanna's famous game. Pollyanna has since sold over one million copies, been translated into several languages, and has become both a Broadway play and a Disney motion picture.
