I Can See Clearly Now by Johnny Nash

I can see clearly now, the rain is gone,
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It’s gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-Shiny day.

I think I can make it now, the pain is gone
All of the bad feelings have disappeared
Here is the rainbow I’ve been prayin?for
It’s gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-Shiny day.

Look all around, there’s nothin?but blue skies
Look straight ahead, nothin?but blue skies

I can see clearly now, the rain is gone,
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It’s gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-Shiny day.

Wouldn't It Be Nice by the Beach Boys

Wouldn’t it be nice if we were older
Then we wouldn’t have to wait so long
And wouldn’t it be nice to live together
In the kind of world where we belong

You know it’s gonna make it that much better
When we can say goodnight and stay together

Wouldn’t it be nice if we could wake up
In the morning when the day is new
And after having spent the day together
Hold each other close the whole night through

Happy times together we’ve been spending
I wish that every kiss was neverending
Wouldn’t it be nice

Maybe if we think and wish and hope and pray it might come true
Baby then there wouldn’t be a single thing we couldn’t do
We could be married
And then we’d be happy

Wouldn’t it be nice

You know it seems the more we talk about it
It only makes it worse to live without it
But lets talk about it
Wouldn’t it be nice

The Java Jive by the Ink Spots

JAVA JIVE

I love coffee, I love tea
I love the java jive and it loves me
Coffee and tea and the jivinU and me
A cup, a cup, a cup, a cup, a cup!

I love java, sweet and hot
Whoops! Mr. Moto, IUm a coffee pot
Shoot me the pot and IUll pour me a shot
A cup, a cup, a cup, a cup, a cup!

Oh, slip me a slug from the wonderful mug
And I cut a rug till IUm snug in a jug
A slice of onion and a raw one, draw one.
Waiter, waiter, percolator!

I love coffee, I love tea
I love the java jive and it loves me
Coffee and tea and the jivinU and me
A cup, a cup, a cup, a cup, a cup!

Boston bean, soy bean
Lima bean, string bean.
You know that IUm not keen for a bean
Unless it is a cheery coffee bean.

Drop me a nickel in my pot, Joe, TakinU it slow.
Waiter, waiter, percolator!

I love coffee, I love tea
I love the java jive and it loves me
Coffee and tea and the jivinU and me
A cup, a cup, a cup, a cup, a cup

What the World Needs Now is Love
by Burt Bacharach

What the world needs now is lovelove struck , sweet lovelove struck
It's the only thing that there's just too little of
What the world needs now is lovelove struck , sweet love, love struck
No not just for some but for everyone.

What the world needs now is lovelove struck , sweet lovelove struck
It's the only thing that there's just too little of
What the world needs now is lovelove struck , sweet lovelove struck ,
No, not just for some but for everyone.

Lord, we don't need another mountain,
There are mountains and hillsides enough to climb
There are oceans and rivers enough to cross,
Enough to last till the end of time.

What the world needs now is lovelove struck , sweet lovelove struck
No, not just for some but for everyone.

What the world needs now is lovelove struck , sweet lovelove struck
It's the only thing that there's just too little of
What the world needs now is lovelove struck , sweet lovelove struck ,
No, not just for some, oh, but just for
Every, every, everyone.

So Happy Together
By the Turtles
[This one always makes me smile because it's such an upbeat song, and it just exudes youthful optimism.]

Imagine me and you, I do
I think about you day and night
It's only right
To think about the girl you love
And hold her tight
So happy together

If I should call you up
Invest a dime
And you say you belong to me
And ease my mind
Imagine how the world could be
So very fine
So happy together

{Refrain}
I can't see me loving nobody but you
For all my life
When you're with me
Baby the skies will be blue
For all my life

On My Way Home by Enya

I have been given
one moment from heaven
as I am walking
surrounded by night,
Stars high above me
make a wish under moonlight.

On my way home
I remember
only good days.
On my way home
I remember all the best days.
I'm on my way home
I can remember
every new day.

I move in silence
with each step taken,
snow falling round me
like angels in flight,
Far in the distance
is my wish under moonlight

This is my favorite hymn. I prefer Enya's eerily somber version, but the traditional version with the upbeat tempo is fun too. I've even heard it make a funeral more hopeful.

How Can I Keep from Singing
How Can I Keep From Singing?

My life flows in endless song, above earth's lamentation,
I hear the real though far off hymn, that hails a new creation.
No storm can shake my inmost calm, I hear the music ringing,
It sounds an echo in my soul. How can I keep from singing?

When tyrants tremble, sick with fear, and hear their death-knells ringing,
When friends rejoice both far and near, how can I keep from singing?
In prison cell or dungeon dark, our thoughts to them are winging,
When friends by shame are undefiled, how can I keep from singing.

What though the tempest 'round me roars, I know the truth, it liveth.
What though the darkness 'round me close, songs in the night it giveth.
No storm can shake my inmost calm, while to that rock I'm clinging.
Since love is Lord of heaven and earth. How can I keep from singing?

I lift my eyes, the clouds grow thin, I see the blue above it.
And day by day this pathway clears, since first I learned to love it.
The peace from love makes fresh my heart, a song of hope is ringing.
All things are mine, since truth I've found. How can I keep from singing.

Million Pieces (Kissin' Your Cares Goodbye) by the Newsboys

They all fall
Like a million raindrops
Falling from a blue sky
Kissing your cares goodbye
They all fall
Like a million pieces
A tickertape parade high
And now you're free to fly

Carryin' a millstone malaise
It's been pulling down your gaze
You pound the pavement
It don't give or care
This weight ain't yours to bear

Why you holdin' grudges in old jars?
Why you wanna show off all your scars?
What's it gonna take to lay a few burdens down?
It's a beautiful sound

When they all fall
Like a million raindrops
Falling from a blue sky
Kissing your cares goodbye
They all fall
Like a million pieces
A ticker tape parade high
And now you're free to fly

When that muffled sigh
Says you're barely getting by
Cut your burdens loose and just simplify
Simplify

This is not your floor
You're going higher than before
Drop the weight now
Wait for the lookout guide
Look outside

As they all fall
Like a million raindrops
Falling from a blue sky
Kissing your cares goodbye
They all fall
Like a million pieces
A ticker tape parade high
Now you're free to fly

You've gotta lay that burden down
You're gonna lay that burden down
It's time to leave your burdens in a pyre
Set a bonfire

'Cause when you lay your burdens down
When you lay your burdens down
When you drop them burdens
What a free-fall
What a thrill
Bury them all
In a landfill
