    Economics?

Posted by: A former member on Sep 29, 2009

I'm a huge fan. Bait and Switch? Nickel and Dimed? The Naked Economist? Fun times. I'm also a HUGE fan of history....I'll pretty much read and discuss anything there. Also, I know this is a large group but what about smaller groups at people's houses or apts? I'd be up to hosting. :)

    True crime?

Posted by: Emmy Emmy on Sep 16, 2009

Anyone into true crime books? I can't talk about them with most, because they think reading them is odd (some are disturbing and gory). I think a meetup where we chat and exchange books would be great, or read and discuss recent events and books like She Devils: True Stories of the World's Most Notorious Female Serial Killers, Gone to Hell: True Crimes of America?s Clergy, or historic murders like, The Anatomy Murders: Being the True and Spectacular History of Edinburgh's Notorious Burke and Hare, and of the Man of Science Who Abetted Them in the Commission of Their Most Heinous Crimes.

I am all for meeting in the Harold Wash library, S. State St., Oak Park restaurant, or Cicero library.

The Art of War or David Sedaris

Posted by: Jessica Jessica on Nov 8, 2009

How about reading the "Art of War" by Sun Tzu and talking about how it relates to our current life and times? By contrast, what about reading, "Me Talk Pretty One Day" to discuss the crossover between memoir to humor and entertainment.

Anyone want to see about a Naperville spinoff ?

Posted by: Doug Doug on Oct 26, 2009

I live in Naperville. Enjoyed the few meetups I attended down in the city of Chicago, but I am disappointed there have been none in so long. I would gladly look into the Naperville library to see if we could get some space to meetup. Any interest among this group? I know it's mostly a city group..but some of us suburbanites are lurking out here as well. BNSF line from Union station runs into Naperville....and I'd gladly meet any particular trains to take folks over to the library...or it's about a 10 min walk through historic area of Naperville.

    Peripatetic Literature

Posted by: peter krause peter krause on Sep 14, 2009

Maybe Sebald or Patrick Leigh Fermor? Large-scale, literary, kitchen-sink nonfiction rather than targeted non-fiction. It seems a shame to have 500 people in this group, but no meetups.
