Well, we decided to FINALLY start with a classic, and thanks for the suggestion of "Robinson Crusoe" to get us going! Although a lot of people have heard the basics of the story by Daniel Defoe, I know that I have never actually read it. Here is what Wikepedia says about it:
Robinson Crusoe is a novel by Daniel Defoe, first published in 1719 and sometimes regarded as the first novel in English. The book is a fictional autobiography of the title character, an English castaway who spends 28 years on a remote tropical island near Venezuela, encountering natives, captives, and mutineers before being rescued. This device, presenting an account of supposedly factual events, is known as a "false document" and gives a realistic frame story.
Another interesting note is that this book is considered "public domain", or whatever the term is, and is available for download online for free. Just put the name into a search engine, and you will find it!
I look forward to this great discussion!
I hope to see you there!
