Retired businessman whose hobby is literary fiction. Collect American classics and selected non-fiction in hard back - more than 1000 on the shelf. Russian-born wife is Russian language literary junky. We crave conversation with like-minded readers.
What kinds of books do you most enjoy reading?

All the English language classics - Hemingway, Steinbeck, Roth, Updike, Doctorow, Irving, Vidal and Morrison, but also good reads by the likes of Lescroart, LeCarre, Hillerman, Clavel, and Richard North Patterson. Crazy about Annie Proulx.

Why are/were you interested in joining a book club like the EVBCMG?

There must be people out there who also enjoy literture and sharing insights.

What is your favorite book?

As impossible as saying which of my children is the favorite. Beloved for sheer craftsmanship, Loon Lake for elegant prose that approaches poetry, A Prayer for Owen Meany that proves humor can be a part of serious lirerature, Updike's "Rabbit" books.
