We are a vibrant, animated, diverse community. We love quality fiction, intelligent cinema, and many other aspects of The Arts and Popular Culture. We love to socialise and new members are always welcome at any of our events.
Each month we host:
*Book Discussion Evening – On the Second Tuesday of the Month share views and gain new insights into our chosen book. This is a led discussion, we discourage book snobbery and all views and opinions are respected.
*Cinema (Independant, non-mainstream) – We run our own film night on the last Tuesday of the Month when a Victorian Gin Parlour becomes our own private cinema for the evening. Intelligent, thought provoking films, no more than about 2 hours long.
*Bookclub Social Evening – Last Friday of the month. Nothing specific to discuss, just a chance to socialise over a civilised drink, make new friends and catch up on all the Bookclub chat.
(see listings below for full details of all upcoming events)
In addition to the above we run other Ad Hoc events (theatre, exhibitions, festivals) as and when they catch our eye.
We are currently reading The Picture of Dorian Gray. We meet on Tuesday 9th February to discuss it - please RSVP if you are joining us.
A list of our previous book choices can be found in the files section (on the left of this page)

What members are saying
“ Would definitely recommend it to anyone. Friendly, open people. I went in with one idea about the book and came out with another, and I'm sure I wasn't the only one! ”
“ A chance to do something different, meet new people and think outside the box. ”
