You'll get invited to our Meetups as soon as they're scheduled!
We'll be setting George Cotkin's Existential America aside for this meeting since we went on last night to have such a riveting discussion and analysis of SK's Dread and Freedom excerpt from The Kierkegaard section in Walter Kaufman's "Existentialism from Dostoyevsky to Sartre", listed on Amazon here: http://tinyurl.com/26.... This was a five-page excerpt from what turns out to be a 300 page book, and even that much took up a couple of hours of review.
A very rewarding experience that we'll continue with the rest of the Kierkegaard section in Kaufman's anthology, focusing on "That Individual" on pages 94-101 and Truth is Subjectivity on pages 110-120. And checking Kaufman's introduction would be helpful too, and if you're read Mr. Cotkin's book so far, please feel free to present any questions or comments you could still have on it, and we'll return to the rest of it in the weeks to come!
Also recommended is Donald Palmer's Kierkegaard for Beginners (not for Dummies!). No shame in turning to this just because it's illustrated... As well as Robert Solomon's Teaching Company Existentialism lecture which we'll be checking out tonight too. So I look forward to seeing you all on the 20th, seeking truth in a small crowd and experiencing that dizziness of freedom!
Also, feel free to show up earlier tonight, at 7pm if you want to. I'll be home earlier since I was laid off this week, yes a lot of dizziness of freedom these days...
