About Sacramento Women's Book Club

We have been meeting twice per month to gather and discuss the selected book, generally the 2nd Wednesday and 4th Thursday of each month. (Note: We will only be meeting once per month during the summer months... and will re-evaluate in the fall whether we want to add back the second group.)

Books for the Wednesday meeting are chosen using a suggestion and voting process. The organizer will facilitate these meetings. Selections are generally fiction, but have covered a wide spectrum of topics. For the Thursday group, we are now taking turns facilitating. The facilitator for that month makes the book selection, provides discussion questions, and generally runs the meeting. Book selections for this group are varied now, but in the past had been more non-fiction and/or "lighter" reading.

Our regular meeting location is Time Tested Books at 1114 21st Street in downtown Sacramento. They provide a very nice area for us in the back of the store that is conducive to our discussions, and also offer a 10% discount to group members when purchasing selected books. We also try to have dinners once per month or so, to give members time to talk and get to know each other better. Other events are also scheduled from time to time (volunteer activities, movies, lectures...).
