This month we are discussing Graham Greene's The Power and The Glory. Here's a little bit about it to get you excited!
"It is about the "whisky priest," a once well-to-do Catholic priest now running from the authorities in an area of Mexico that has repudiated Catholicism and condemned its priests to death. But the preist is plagued by more than the authorities--he also has to deal with his growing despair, his religious doubts, and his never-ending struggle against the joint temptations of alcohol and pride."

This month, Howard Siegel has graciously offered to host the event at his house! As nice as The Merchant has been to us, it's so much nicer (and quieter) to meet in someone's home, as those who met at Tracy's will remember!
The address is above -- it's near Lincoln Park. Mass transit info from Howard: "There is a bus that goes on Montgomery. If you get off at Bergen Ave. it's 5 blocks to Kensington, going South. There is a Bergen Ave. bus that goes from Journal Square to Kensington. It is a 12 block walk from Journal Square. You walk straight on Bergen. It's a safe walk because it is a main street and never empty. There is also a no. 10 bus that goes along Kennedy Blvd. It stops at Kensington too."
Howard has a large Victorian house on the corner of Bergen, between Bergen and Kennedy. The starting time is at 7:30. The optimum amount attendees is 15, but we are setting the limit to 20 since usually about 5 people have to cancel at the last minute.
We would like everyone who can to bring a beverage, snack, or covered dish -- see the Message Board.
