I live in Bedminster, NJ and do photography and multimedia projects for mostly corporate clients. I have a degree in English Lit, and thanks to this book club, Librivox.org, and moving out of Manhattan, I have been finally getting back into books!
Recently, "Never Let Me Go"... but "The Brothers Karamazov" ... "Right Ho, Jeeves" ... and I am going to add "Planescape", although that is technically a computer game ... these have each left a big impression on me in the past couple of months.
You will read a lot of wonderful books you would not have otherwise.

"We are fortunate in seeming to always attracting a friendly and articulate bunch. From hearing what others say, I always leave with a deeper appreciation of the book and what it was trying to do, whether I loved the story or not. ..."
"The Elegance of the Hedgehog", by Muriel Barbery
"Everyone chipped in to make it another excellent discussion. People always come up with ways to interpret the book that provide new and satisfying answers to things I didn't understand..."
"Maus" wrapup and further discussion
"If you missed out on the Meetup, or were there but thought of something you should have said after .... post here! There is lots of stuff about "Maus" online ... here is a study guide put together by the University of California...."
R. Crumb & Francoise Mouly book signing on 10/23
"Thanks Ryan!..."
"Maus 1: My Father Bleeds History", by Art Spiegelman
"Very lively meetup ... and made me appreciate the book even more, as usual."
Message Board Only Meetup: "Adams", by George Saunders
"Great observations, Susan! Allegory ... I always remember JRR Tolkien saying he hated allegories and did not want LOTR read as such ... it was an insult to its worth as a story......"
Message Board Only Meetup: "Adams", by George Saunders
"Most of the New Yorker podcasts pack the same wallop for me as this one, Cristian, but in completely different ways ... and usually it takes the discussion afterwards between the fiction editor and writer for me to get it......"
Message Board Only Meetup: "Adams", by George Saunders
"From an interview with George Saunders in Turnrow, the Bi-Annual Journal of the University of Lousiana at Monroe: Mark Budman: Your story "Adams" published in The New Yorker has no loveable or even likeable protagonists...."
Message Board Only Meetup: "Adams", by George Saunders
"SPOILER: According to the podcast commentary (linked to above), this story was written during the buildup to the Iraq war. Take the "s" in the title and put it at the front."
