The Durham BritLit Book Club Meetup Group
|
The Booker Prize for Literature is one of the most prestigious awards a fiction writer can receive. Even to be on the shortlist is an honor. Let's pick an award winner, or shorlisted nominee and make our way through some of the best English fiction. I have scheduled this for "no regular schedule" but we can all firm this up together.

-
"I read every night just before turning off the light and I don't always retain as much as I would like. It is too easy to only retain the parts that already mesh with your current ways of thinking. I look forward to a hearing everyone's comments. "

"Love the classics"

"Hi. I'm a lifelong reading addict and wish I had more time to do so now. I hope joining will help challenge me toward that. I'll read almost anything, but two of my fave Brits are Douglas Adams (all works) and Kingsley Amis' Lucky Jim. "

"I am a librarian from Carrboro. I mostly read contemporary British fiction, so this group sounds like a good one for me. I am looking forward to attending a meeting!"
-
"What day of the week works for everyone? Once a month or once every two months or twice a month or daily (haha). Post your thoughts."
-
"Where do you all want to meet? So far we've been meeting at Mad Hatter but there have been some complaints. I'm offering my house, southern durhamish. We could also meet at Francesca's on 9th..."
-
"Hey, everybody. I'm taking Gwen's great idea and opening up message boards. This one is to suggest up to 10 books each. Then I'll use my new-found skills from Statistics and pare down the data and come..."
-
"This is the place to continue the conversation between monthly Meetups. Get to know your local Meetup community, ask questions, answer questions, talk about your last get-together--it's up to you. We..."
-
"i like to read and never get motivated to do it. i can't wait to meet up and discuss your next book!"
