The location of this meetup will be the Borders Books in Emeryville. If the cafe inside is too crowded, there is an indoor food court right next door, which the back entrance of the bookstore exits into, and which happens to have large tables nearby.

Let's share ideas & thoughts about readings in the field of cognitive science and other related disciplines (such as evolutionary psychology or neuroscience).

For the next meeting I would like to hear what particular areas of cognitive science you are particular interested in, and suggested readings on that particular area of interest. Ideally, we could select a book or two that we can all agree to read, and then discuss at the following meeting.

I am open to suggestions for locations. Ease of accessibility and a pleasant atmosphere are essential.

I look forward to getting together with you!

Ormond, just did a quick scan of this article...Pinker is one of my favorite Cog.Sci. authors...just finished his book "The Blank Slate" which is a great read with regards to to the argument of Nature versus Nurture. I second the idea of exploring this NY Times article at the upcoming meeting. Thanks for the suggestion...Sophia

We should discuss this, since it's pretty current, and a precis of an important part of cognitive science. 12 pages, brilliant! http://query.nytimes.com/gs...=

Who attended?

    •  Tried to find the organizer, Dana Ream, and somehow we missed each other again?
    •  Lively discussion, well-informed people. Wide range of subjects, good participation.
