Estimated attendance:  3  people attended.

The location of this meetup will be the Borders Books in Emeryville. If the cafe inside is too crowded, there is an indoor food court right next door, which the back entrance of the bookstore exits into, and there are also tables outside.

Let's share ideas & thoughts about readings in the field of cognitive science and other related disciplines (such as evolutionary psychology or neuroscience).

For the next meeting we will be discussing Steven Pinker's The Stuff of Thought, which explores the relationship between language and thought. At each meeting we will also select a book to discuss at the following meeting.

I look forward to getting together with you!

    Orwell's chapter on Newspeak at the end of "1984" is short and thought-provoking also. Lakoff's "Metaphors we live by" parallels much of Pinker's work. I've run out of ideas <|;>}

    •  Beautiful day! Small group, good discussion. Wish more people would come. I can't imagine a finer way to while away an afternoon, than talking away about progress and understanding. Our leader will have a cell phone so you can locate him, besides his straw hat with white cards on it. Or you can call me at 510-685-6712 for directions. We should communicate better.
