The Rochester Book Club Meetup Group
|
Welcome - my name is Rachel, and my friend Sue and I will jointly lead the "new" book club. For a meeting place we would like to convene at SPoT coffee on East Ave - this way we can enjoy a nice tea or coffee as we chat about the book. As far as book choices, we will likely get suggestions from members and choose via lottery or on an alphabetical by last name basis. We are open to suggestions, so if you have any interests, questions, or ideas please feel free to contact us. More information to follow regarding meeting dates etc.

What's New?
-
"Welcome to Rochester, Sheva! I'm looking forward to meeting you at the next book club meeting."
-
"Hi Sue, thanks so much for all your hard work organizing the new locale and for letting everyone know what's going on. I really appreciate it :)"
-
"Hello, I'm a recent RIT grad and am looking to meet new people that enjoy books the way I do. I'm big into fantasy and horror but am really interested in seeing what other people are into as well."
-
"Hello! I am a huge book worm and I really look forward to meeting and sharing with others who feel as strongly about books as I do."
-
"Hello! My name is Liz and I am 25 years old. I am currently a graduate student at the University of Rochester which keeps me very busy but I am always looking for new things to do and new ways to meet people."
-
"I enjoy reading all kinds of books. I always have several things I'm reading at once but I've managed to decrease it to one book and a couple of magazines (writing) at a time. I would love to hear how others feel about the same writing. "
-
"Howdy! I am up in Mokena, Illinois. Just east of Joliet and New Lenox. What is the group reading so I can get started. I will have the long drive Monday from Mokena to Rochester. Linda"
-
"I just moved to Rochester from Champaign, IL. My husband was at UIUC. Hope your move goes well and look forward to meeting you."
-
"Hey everyone. I've been trying to find new book clubs, thought this one might be interesting. I've lived in Rochester all my life. I'm a recent college grad."
-
"Thanks so much for the welcome! I am packing furiously here in Illinois. Closing on the NY house April 30. Am enjoying the light read: The Thunderbolt Kid by Bill Bryson. For a child of the fifties it is hilarious and cuts right to the core of who and why we baby boomers are. I am starting Fahrenheit 451, an old friend from high school. What a deeply meaningful yarn. Hope to see you all soon! Linda"
-
"Hi Dawn, and welcome to the group :) I just moved here last July, so this will be a great way for us newbies to connect with fellow readers. Looking forward to meeting you!"
-
"I hope that you are able to come to future meetings. I am also a transplant to this area, as is my friend Sue. Welcome!"
-
"Hi Leslie - I think we exchanged emails a while back about a new book club - happy to see you here :)"
-
"Hi Donna - looking forward to seeing you at the meeting :)"
-
"Helo ! I am new to this group. I am an avid reader and would like to have a structured forum for discussing literature."
-
"My reading tastes are pretty broad, from fiction to non-fiction to poetry (though I suppose that doesn't leave much else, eh?). I really enjoy hearing how different people experience the same work."
-
"I don't see any meeting coming up and I hope that there will be! I just moved to the Rochester area a week ago and look forward to meeting other book lover's like myself!"
-
"Hi! I am an avid reader of just about anything! I love having new books suggested to me and whats could be more entertaining than discussing a great book! I just moved to Rochester last April-reading is the BEST way to spend winter here! *shivers*"
