Hello,
I am new to Santa Fe, love reading, and would like to initiate a book club whereby Santa Fe readers could meet up and discuss contemporary literature (and perhaps read and discuss older works sometimes). A few recent publications that sound of interest to me include Amy Bloom's "Away" and Lydia Davis's "Varieties of Disturbance." I do have a tendency to gravitate to works written by contemporary women writers, but will not discount, of course, the work of men! Helen Simpson's "Getting a Life" also sounds intriguing, as does Nick Flynn's "Another Bullshit Night in Suck City" (recommended to me by some former students). I see this group as for intrepid readers who are willing from time to time to be offended. Let me know if you are interested. Book suggestions would be welcome from those interested in participating.

Directions to Katherine's:

Take Bishops Lodge Road about 3 or so miles up from Washington Street until you see the entrance to the resort on your right. Directly across the street on the left is Lamy Road. Take that left and go through the gate, which should be unlocked (if it is locked, dial 40 and Katherine will open it for you). Read more

Awesome! Thanks for the greeting! I look forward to meeting everybody. Is there anything I can bring to add to the food/drinks? I just ordered this month's book and it looks really good! Again, I look forward to meeting everyone. I've had a hard time plugging into life here in SF and am excited to meet you all!

Welcome! We're a group of mostly women who like to read and discuss what we've read. We are a mixed group as far as age and life experience. I can say that every one is really smart and very nice. We eat and drink at the meetings, and most of the gatherings are held at our posh club house, the home of one of our members who not only is super smart, very funny, an incredible host, and extremely well read, but she also bakes a mean quiche.
