36 Meetup Groups match “Book Club” near Newcastle Upon Tyne, United Kingdom
Do you ever finish a book and wish everyone could read it? They say that if you love something you should set it free - and that's what we do with our books! If you love reading too come and join us ... bring a book or two, take a book or two... have a drink or two... Go to "Learn more about this Meetup Group" for more information about the Bookcrossing, and the calendar for the full list of forthcoming meetings. We love to welcome new members, even if you can't come regularly.
There's nothing better losing yourself into a book for a few hours, other than maybe; setting the book free and allowing others to discover it too. Whether you're an old hat or a newbie at Bookcrossing, then welcome to the group.
Come along & meet other local BookCrossers, swap books, chat, drink beer, and debate the best places to leave and find books "in the wild".
Please use links on the left to find out more ... and see the books we'll read this year below! The 'About' page lists the books we've read in the past few years.

Virtually anything goes, from biographies to wars, or psychology to herpetology (just joking about the psychology). We meet every other Tuesday at around 8pm in the Blue Blaz …

A very good debate I recently had with a high-ranking Christian representative inspired me to launch this Meetup group. Most debates between Christians and Atheists are either highly philosophical ("What made existence come into existence?", "What triggered the Big Bang?", "Can we ever prove/disprove the existence of God?") or articulated around scientific inconsistencies in the Bible (miracles, as Christians would argue,) - In my experience though, these debates don't lead anywhere. In this Mee …

I have began this group because after living in america for 7 years - east bay san francisco area to be exact- i have grown into a person who cares for people, my world, being loving, sharing and i am so surprised that in this area there seems to be no groups of this nature. My vision for this group is simply to unite people of a similar nature, that being people who are spiritual, thoughtful, creative, loving and who want to grow personally and have deeply meaningful connection with people in t …

Do you enjoy reading non-fiction but hardly ever get round to it because the challenges of everyday life make it difficult to take the time? Would you like to share your views on a book, in depth, chapter by chapter, with other people who have read the same book? Most book clubs seem to meet about once a month and discuss a different book every time they meet. This doesn't seem to work for everyone. If you want to read a book in depth, and not like Woody Allan, who, after reading War and Peace i …

Leeds needs a book group! Having just moved to the area I can see there is a dirth of groups for book and literature lovers. This must change! I don't read anywhere near enough but a group like this one will get me in the habit once more. I can't find a group like it, so I'm creating one myself. Once-a-month meets, discussions on the wonderful world of literature, and the setting of a book to read after each meet. Come on, come all, and we could make this an awesome group.
This is a group for anyone interested in learning how to develop apps, e-books and games with LiveCode. We are setting up a series of Meet Ups in Edinburgh to connect with our local community, and help anyone to get started with LiveCode. LiveCode Community edition is Open Source so anyone can down load it and get started free of charge. LiveCode has been designed with ease of use in mind and it really does brake down barriers for anyone who wishes to learn how to develop their own apps. We look …
This group is devoted to the reading of one book: Thus Spoke Zarathustra As a group, i would like us to read the first half of the book, discuss it, then go on to read the second half and discuss that. I will be reading the Cambridge edition, translated by Adrian Del Caro, as i like the style; but the Kaufmann and Hollingdale translations are also good (it might be helpful if the group reads the same translation, but it's not essential). I would also definitely recommend finding a readers guide.
