I’m a working mom in Santa Rosa. My husband and I have lived in this area for a few years. But, I’ve long considered starting a book club or walking/hiking group since our family enjoys being active. So, I thought I’d combine the two. Meeting once a month for an early weekend morning walk around, for example, Spring Lake, in Santa Rosa. The book club part of this is also very casual. So, if you love the outdoors, the idea of sharing thoughts on books, and look forward to starting the day early …
Novel Lovers of Sonoma County, CA (formerly Novel Lovers of Sebastopol) is a book discussion group where we talk in depth about contemporary literary fiction. We choose a book a month and all agree to read it (I know that's not always a requirement for a book club!) and then we get together on a Sunday afternoon to discuss it. The specific Sunday varies from month to month, so check each individual meeting. Questions? Email Joan Price, organizer.
… Would a focus of a chapter each month, as in take a year to wrk through the whole book, be more appealing? I know a lot of people do this book solo (I did the first 3 times) and I also know having community as we do so is powerful. Would this be a way to combine the two? Meetup INc. recommends that organizers charge $10- $20 each session, which I haven't been doing. When I facilitate groups I have learned that free or discounts never work. People struggle to get through the material when I have …

A super geeky, cool group where those most awesome of awesome nerds hang out and watch, play and read the most terrific Science fiction, Fantasy and Horror shows, games and books! This is Primarily a private group, where friends can meet and plan some activities together and mostly by invitation only, but on a rare occasion we do accept new members to the group. Never hurts to apply, but I can't say whether or not you'll be accepted until we've had some time to meet and interact. -Ralph
