Welcome to The Roseville Women's Book Club! We are a group of women (all ages are welcome!) that get together to discuss books! It's that simple! We are a very casual and informal book club, meaning that it's just very relaxed. There is no set outline for our meetings, we just talk! We laugh a lot and have fun! Our meetings usually last about 45 minutes to an hour, but the meeting can go longer for those members who continue to hang out and just talk. We also host events that have nothing to do …

This will be a casual book club and anyone with an interest in classic fiction is welcome! We will vote on our selection each month (except for the first). This is a meetup for queer-identifying folks to get together and read books together, talk about them, and socialize. (But we won't discriminate against any straight allies that may want to participate!) While it is a queer-targeted book club, we will not be limited to queer-themed material (though such literature will have its place, as few other book clubs will incorp …

If you love books and movies, why can’t you discuss both? I started South Bay Books and Movies because I wanted a club where people get together to discuss books and movies. We will meet every one to two weeks to discuss our book club selection and every three weeks to watch a movie and discuss it afterwards over dinner or late lunch. We …

Are you interested in a fun book club with other people your age? Please come join! I noticed that most of the book clubs out there in the east bay area tended to have more members over 30 and I have always wanted a club made up of fellow book lovers within my own age range. Any women/gay guys in the east bay area between 21-29 are more than welcome (You don't have to live in Walnut Creek to come hang out with us!) whether you are a college student, in your career, or a stay at home parent. This ain't your mama's book club! The focus of the club is to read and discuss books. We will usually have a genre selection, sometimes have a group selection, and sometimes (rarely) have no selection. And, it's OK if you don't read the "book of the month," just come and talk about something you're currently reading or have read in the past. Our members read all genres, and some of our best discussions have been about books that have been suggested that aren't "best sellers." We are an ongoing g …

Sex in literature transports us from the silly to the sublime, providing erotic entertainment and ideas that stir our soul. Not purely focused on erotica, this group will read fiction, and maybe some nonfiction, which includes some noteworthy treatment of sex. Is pleasure itself a tool for spiritual learning? What's hot and what's not? What does Haruki Murakami's "metaphysical mind-bending" writing tell us about the nature of reality and the transformative role of sex? Let's dig into some great …

This club is intended for those in the Mountain View, Sunnyvale and Cupertino areas who love literary criticism for fiction and creative nonfiction. Each month we'll choose a book to read for the next month. The group will not focus on a single type of literary criticism, but rather on the range of appropriate types. Do you like reading books that will further your personal or professional development? Do you like meeting new people and having a casual discussion over common interests? This is a group for anyone interested in reading books like Sheryl Sandberg's Lean In, Reid Hoffman's Startup of You, or Jim Collins' Good to Great; then getting together, discussing, and selecting the next book. I've been devouring some really interesting books recently and would love to talk with people about them. Hoping to create a group of people that meets regularly, engages in critical thought and opens up our exposure so that we get people from different viewpoints, or maybe even read contrasting authors at the same time.
So this year we are celebrating 60 years with 007. Sure, Skyfall is a great movie, but what about the books? We'll be reading Ian Fleming's books starting with Casino Royale. Sure we'll talk about the movies: George Lazenby et al but it'll be fun to actually read the original intents. The locales of these books run the gamut from Las Vegas to London to Istanbul to Jamaica to Mahe Island. Hopefully we can find bars/restaurants that correspond to the locales and rap.
