I decided to start this book club to create a group of like minded individuals that enjoy reading about interesting people. It should be interesting to hear different view points from the group about the focused people's personalities, the effect they had on others, and/or by what they contributed to their region, nation or to the world, whether it was a positive influence or controversial. Not that other books can't be chosen too, we seem to be drifting toward biographies.
We will read contemporary/classic fiction and non- fiction about once a month. The books we read should be appealing to both genders. This group will not read Sisters Traveling Pants, The Boyfriend Diaries or whatever they are called. Just about anything else is fair game. The monthly books are selected after the last meeting on an online poll. Book suggestions for the poll are allotted to those have attended prior meetings. We meet the last Wednesday of each month.

This group offers a forum for writers to learn and exchange practical information they need to get published. Members gather to ask questions and give advice about every stage of the publishing process, from writing a manuscript to querying an agent to negotiating a contract. While there are many groups for writers out there, most focus exclusively on the craft of writing, while failing to address the practical information that publishers really care about and that can make or break a book deal. …

Hi Everyone! I decided to start this group after my own pregnancy. I come from a family of lots and lots of babies, so I was surprised when I experienced things in my pregnancy and birth that plenty of women experience but that my family and friends had never talked about. Ranging from feelings to physical changes. I've read books and books but somehow didn't get what I needed from them. Let's create a community together! Please come join the group if you are pregnant, plan on getting pregnant. …

The Stratford Scribes is a group of Fairfield County writers serious about the creation and publication of their craft. The group meets in Stratford, Ct. and owes a philosophical debt to Roberto Calas for both the tone and format of the meetup. We are a group of writers committed to pushing each other to achieve the writing life (and audience) to which we aspire.
