We are a African American book club that has been around since 2008. We are more than your average book club we are a social book club, meaning we are first and foremost a book club but we enjoy our sisterhood/bonding time with things like our annual trip, family day, christmas party, commiunity service and other social events. We are a fun group of ladies and we each offer something different and we are looking for other great ladies to add to our special blend of chocolate.
After belonging to other reading groups with much younger members I have come to realize that my life experiences and theirs are vastly different. Being separated by several generations means you will have a very different take on the books you read. That would be fine if the younger people were open-minded enough to consider that I may know what I'm talking about when discussing housewives from the 50's. After all, my mother was one of them. But they did not do that. They simply fed me the pa …
For those of us who love to read the Young Adult genre and want to spend it with others and rant and rave or maybe even complain about the books we are reading or want to read. Age 20+. We are a group looking for the older lovers of this genre. As exciting as it sounds to sit around with a bunch of high school students or younger to talk about these books...I'm kidding. These books are a guilty pleasure for us for whatever reason. Whether we are getting lost in Jennifer Armentrout's cover models …

Interested in cooking and/or food? Join Atlanta's only book club dedicated to reading books about food and cooking. We will meet once a month to share thoughts on a food literature book. Off-Beat R.E.A.D. (Read, Eat And Discuss) is Atlanta's Bookclub/Discussion Group for those that like books and discussions that are slightly...well, off-beat. There's no dress code or hidden agenda - just good times, and books. If you're into that sort of thing - join us! There are no "rules", per se, just a …

This group is for the "Nerdy Black Woman" who enjoys reading cerebral nonfiction and fiction books. It's for the thinker that seeks out books to challenge her worldview, broaden her horizons, teach her bittersweet lessons on the deeper meaning of life, and answer many of her existential questions. These will be books that span across all disciplines (e.g., History, Science, Politics, Psychology, Human Behavior, etc). Poorly written and poorly conceptualized books (i.e., street lit, hood novels, …

We are a smaller book club that meets monthly. We read fiction and non-fiction and have vegetarian-friendly dinners at meetings. Our members come from all walks of life. The things we have in common are that we like to read, have thoughtful discussions, and eat! It's OK to come to the meetings even if you didn't like the book or couldn't finish the book. Also, you don't have to be vegetarian to join, and this group is NOT designed as a forum for reading/discussing books about vegetarianism.

Most of the time we'll meet in a member's home but sometimes we'll meet in a cafe/restaurant in the north Atlanta area. We also try to coordinate outings (such as author c …
I'm starting this group because one of my New Years resolutions was to start reading the classics, from Epic of Gilgamesh to The Iliad to Pride and Prejudice to Slaughterhouse Five. All the truly great pieces of literature that I've missed. I thought it would be much more fun to have a group reading together so that we could discuss and delve into the books (or just meet for coffee and talk about whether we like the book or not). I belong to other book clubs for modern literature, but the cla …
