This is a brand new book club for mamas-to-be in the Bethesda area so we can meet and get to know some of each other before our babies are born. Group members will take turns choosing a book for the group to read. Books may be, but do not need to be, about pregnancy, babies, or parenting. In addition to book discussions, group activities might include coffee/tea dates, movie nights, hiking on local trails, potlucks, and dining out.
Meet other book people in a local book club. We read a different genre of book each month, and decide together on the next month's book. We use the book 501 Must Read Books as the source of our choices. We meet the third Thursday of each month. Come to share your opinions and observations, have something to eat and/or drink, and make new friends from the neighborhood.

There are many things that this group is NOT: It's not being critiqued by anyone who walks in off the street, It's not meandering conversations about kids, recipes, having a terrible job, or having no job at all. It's not about blogging, fanfic, children's books, or books that are written in an hour, a week, a month, or a year. What this group IS is meeting regularly with a professional writer and editor who will work on your book on all levels from genre choice to plot arcs to line-by-line edit …
Who should join: Women 20+ who have an avid interest in books and a desire to meet like-minded women in a laid back environment. Books will include popular fiction and non-fiction with a few classics thrown in the mix. Please post your recommendations under the "Discussion" tab or email them to me directly at lgordon03 …
This is a non-denominational book club. Just like any other book club, we are reading down a list of books on the topic of Buddhism and we discuss them at restaurants and cafe's near Takoma Park and Silver Spring. You don't need to be self identifying Buddhist to participate and the organizer will not pressure you to "join the club." We'll be reading books for the popular audience and will rotate through all the major traditions with a mild leaning towards Buddhism as it is developing in the US …

If you are like me then you may have grown up on comics. We have also seen comics expand into movies, games, digital etc. Over the years, I have gone from DC to Marvel, currently a combination of both plus some new comers. DC has quite a few comics’ book stores, but they aren’t the places to sit back and discuss our experience. I suggest getting together at a local restaurant and having an open discussion on classic story lines and new/up to date material. Feel free to contact me if you have oth …
The Washington DC Write to Publish Group is unlike most writers’ groups which focus on critiquing each other’s work. Instead this group is dedicated to the "business side" of writing and educate authors (and would be authors) on what they can expect as they go from finished project to available for sale. Much of what I believe and will teach can be found online here: http://www.TheAuthorIncubator.com As a part of your membership, I offer monthly Q&A calls where you can ask any questions you have …

Forster, D.H. Lawrence, Emily Bronte, or maybe Toni Morrison? Does exploring philosophical classics (Plato's Symposium, maybe? Sartre? Hume?) actually appeal to you? If reading great literature with a friendly, laid-back, edgy intellectual crowd turns you on, then this is the meetup for you. We won't tak …

This is the Tantra & Tantric Yoga Students Group, formerly T Anonymous group. That group no longer exists. My only reason for taking this on is to promote the growth in knowledge of these ancient Indian practices. I am not looking to sell you anything, make you come to any high priced workshops or browbeat you for NOT attending. I seek multiple sources of information for the betterment of the group. Many books exist for our group edification. We might benefit by reading them, en masse, outside o …

Let's get together over coffee and chat about the novels of Susan Howatch, which have been described as follows: In all of these novels there is a meshing of Christianity and psychology, which Howatch uses as a tool to perhaps reach those “who say and think that religion is outdated rubbish.” If you talk to these people in the language of psychology, she says, “then you can say, this is what Christianity is saying. Learn the language." You don't need to be a Christian to enjoy these novels. Ther …
