This group started out as a traditional book club but I discovered quickly that fun people don't particularly like homework to do before being social. So I developed a book club for people who don't have time to read the book but like to get together with friends and talk about...well...books. So now you have the option of reading the book ahead of time and then seeing the movie with friends or simply seeing the movie with friends. Either way after the movie we go to dinner and discuss. If you'v …
This is a casual and friendly book club that meets monthly at Flyleaf Books in Chapel Hill. We alternate between fiction and non-fiction selections and choose our books democratically via polls. Book suggestions are always welcome and appreciated! Flyleaf Books offers a 20% discount on books selected for our discussions!
There are many book clubs. This group reads literary classics...books that have stood the test of time. So we'll never read the hot new thing...we'll read books that are 10-10,000 years old but are still in print. We'll read Homer, Dante, Salinger, Faulkner, Flannery O'Connor, John Kennedy Toole, Alice Walker, Shakespeare. Great authors, great books. We'll read fiction, poetry, drama, folk tales, philosophy. We'll discuss what we read over wine or coffee. Sound fun?
This is a book club I created after I left my beloved Pittsburgh Chick Lit Book club and moved to the great South! Listen up Fashionistas! If you love chick lit novels with a strong female protagonist, including chick lit, mommy lit and bride lit, this is the book club for you. New York or London- our girl characters take charge, get promoted and find love, all in 300 pages or less. Let's chat and swap our favorite titles on the last Monday of each month!
Meet kindred classic literature aficionados in a local Book Club! Our focus will be classic British literature, primarily 19th century. From the genteel elegance of Jane Austen's world to the seamy underside of Arthur Conan Doyle's and Charles Dickens' London, we'll read and discuss it all. Henry James, William Thackeray, the Brontës, Thomas Hardy, Lewis Carroll, G. Bernard Shaw, and Oscar Wilde are just some of the many other authors from whom we have to choose. For comparison, we also may read …
Meet kindred book lovers in a local Meetup Book Club! Fiction or non-fiction, paperback or hardcover, you’ll read a new book every month. Come to laugh, share stories and make new friends!
This book group is a lot of fun, very democratic and full of interesting women. We have read fiction and non-fiction. The selection typically ends up being a recent book although we are always open to suggestions! Please join us and be a part of the discussion!
This book club began in 2007 in response to a gap in book clubs in the West side of the Triangle. Since then, many book clubs have emerged (on meetup, and elsewhere). We're still around, and I guess that means something is working. We alternate locations (between Chapel Hill and Durham), and for the most part, meet the last Tuesday of the month. Our four organizers all love this book club, and participate often. We're always looking for new members and fresh ideas in discussion. What can you exp …

Dystopian futures, first loves and boarding schools - you can't go wrong. If you loved the Hunger Games, Princess Diaries, Sweet Valley Confidential, and all those other books that you want to put a paper bag book-cover on so nobody sees what you're reading, then you've found the right place! I’m starting this group because (1) I enjoy reading military history and (2) I enjoy discussing books with smart people. I’d like to meet people with broad interests in military history who are willing to read and discuss books spanning all of human history, rather than a narrow focus on one conflict or era: there is something to be learned from any war, I think. We will meet once a month, to discuss the book we'd voted on. Ideally, one or two persons will serve as primary discussion leaders: p …

So many great conservative books and ideas, so little time to read. A bookclub deadline is a great motivator to actually crack open that book you've been meaning to read! Join fellow conservatives to discuss the latest book, column or happening. If you like Andrew Breitbart, Mark Steyn, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Melanie Phillips, Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, Mark Levin, Michelle Malkin, Elliott Abrams, the National Review or Weekly Standard, then this is the Meetup for you!

GONE FISHIN' -- This group closed in 2009 due to waning interest by the members. No new events will be scheduled. No new members will be accepted. After the final installment "HP and the Deathly Hallows" was published, most people simply lost their enthusiasm for the Potterverse. Someone else started another HP group in Winston-Salem in 2010, but it only had a few events. I have purged this group's membership list and have kept this site only for archive purposes. We had a GREAT time for 2 years …

I'm looking forward to monthly meetups to read and discuss great nonfiction. Sometimes we'll read and discuss an article or two; other times, a nonfiction boo …

A platform for people to learn the basics of a variety of crafting techniques. Welcome to Jack’s Crafts!
