What's better than holding a brand new book in your hand? Tipping back a glass with other book lovers right after buying it. The NYC book and pub crawl consists of three easy steps: meet at a local independent bookstore, buy a book, then meet at a local bar nearby to hang out with fellow bibliophiles.
We are a group of gay guys of all ages who meet the first Wednesday of every month. We read an eclectic range of books from classics to just-released works. We don't necessarily read books with a gay theme or characters, but always open to suggestions. Very easy going; more social than academic. Generally we talk about the book for the first part of the meeting and then the conversation evolves (or maybe devolves) to talking about anything else: pop culture, gay life, vacations, etc. We meet a …
Do you love books? Have you read something amazing recently but had no one to share it with? Have you wanted to join a book club (like me) only to find they all meet on weekdays making it impossible for you to attend? Then welcome to the Westchester Weekend Book Club! This club will be open to everyone - both men, women, young, old. A common interest in good books is all that's needed. Some great future read suggestions are "The Thirteenth Tale," "Middlesex," Water for Elephants" "The Shad …

Inspired by a recent story in the Wall Street Journal, about a long-running reading group in which the members read books aloud -- 35 or so pages a meeting -- they've read Dickens, Milton, Tolstoy, Faulkner, the Brontes, Eliot, Austen. In addition to the book we're reading (our first is The Transit of Venus), we've begun meetings by reading other short pieces or poems.

FUN Ladies between the ages of 25 - 40 living within 5 miles of Hoboken who enjoy curling up with a good book, good food, and good wine. There are 2 meetings per month to accomodate as many members as possible. There are no rules to the book club portion, it's just an open discussion about what we loved or didn't love about each book - so it won't be like an AP English Lit class by any means. Cooking themes are inspired by the book itself and everyone brings a bottle of wine to the hostess's h …

Hello and thanks for taking the time to visit The Last Monday of the Month Book Club page. This book club has been around for the past 5 years and we have read everything from " The Kite Runner" to "Jane Eyre". This is not a stuffy book club at all and we still have some of the original members from 5 years ago. You will not be put on the spot and can contribute as much or as little as you like. We just want attendees to feel relaxed, have a glass of wine and join in some great conversation. We …

I have been getting so much out of a certain genre of literature that I decided to see if anyone else wanted to read and discuss them. All of these books are terrific depictions of the journey out of emptiness and back into the vitality of being alive. They always inspire. Anyone who finds the topic of re-discovering spiritual health and innocence, particularly if the starting point is a jaded love for self-destruction should join this meet-up. We'll meet weekly and peel one of these novels apar …

Literary Me is a network of Book and Film Clubs for the current and past members of Conduit (ages 6 to 14).
Read a good book. Meet new and interesting people who've read it too. Feed your brain...and your stomach. For a list of our past reads, please see the calendar or the photo album. Our focus is on finding worthwhile literature and still covering a variety of eras, countries and fiction (and once in a while, non-fiction) genres. We try to find books that are a manageable length (200-350 pages) and that make us think. (Our members are well-educated, but note that the majority of us do not have E …

They just don't write em' like they used to! We'll have a casual chat about a new classic each time. We can meet whenever and wherever. Not all book clubs have to gather at a coffee shop :-) Some titles already on the list include Anna Karenina, Dracula and Catcher in the Rye. I want the rest of the group to pick some titles, as well. I'm going for a very laid-back kind of gathering. So, let's all put on our smarty pants and share a few laughs and conversation!
