Are you a lesbian who loves to read books? Does discussing a book with other gay women sound fun to you? Looking to forge new friendships with like-minded women from the area? Then this is the Meetup for you! We will meet on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. and discuss the book at a local coffee shop/diner/bookstore, etc. Let's read, share some great conversation, laugh, and enjoy each other's company....All lesbian bookworms welcome!
I decided to start the group because I cannot find a book club that assigns books that are more to my liking. So I am hoping to find other girls who will enjoy the type of books I love to read. I read both fiction and non fiction, but my main interest is stories that touch upon specific things: feminism, sexuality, mental health, etc. So join my group if you are looking to stay local in Brooklyn, like to drink and like to read.
*** Members decide which books we read. Check out "About Us" to learn more. *** The top three reasons to join the Woodbridge/Edison Book Club: (1) Read books you might not otherwise pick up; broaden your horizons! (2) Share in intelligent (but not stuffy) conversations about books and life. (3) Have fun in a comfortable setting, have a snack, and make new friends.

I know I can't be the only person in NYC who would loves romance novels. If you read Romantic Times Magazine, dream about going to the Romantic Times Book Lovers Convention, know that Harlequin has an App, follow Smart Bitches Trashy Novels, love Julie Garwood, Amanda Quick, Eloisa James, Lori Foster, Julia London, Stephanie Laurens, Lorelei James, Vicki Lewis Thompson, Linda Lael Miller, Susan Mallery or any author who captured your imagination and made you fall in love with the couple, and you …

Inspired by a recent story in the Wall Street Journal, about a long-running reading group in which the members read books aloud -- 35 or so pages a meeting -- they've read Dickens, Milton, Tolstoy, Faulkner, the Brontes, Eliot, Austen. In addition to the book we're reading (our first is The Transit of Venus), we've begun meetings by reading other short pieces or poems.

This meetup group is an "interactive" one where together, we will choose the book, the venue, and the theme. We are always open to suggestions! Join us as we combine our passion for reading, food, socializing and friendship. We are women in our 30's/ 40's/50's and beyond who love to eat, read, and laugh. Intellectual conversation and lots of fun encouraged. Married, divorced, single with kids or not! Occasionally, we even just get together for the fun of it. We all lead very busy lives and are a …

I have been getting so much out of a certain genre of literature that I decided to see if anyone else wanted to read and discuss them. All of these books are terrific depictions of the journey out of emptiness and back into the vitality of being alive. They always inspire. Anyone who finds the topic of re-discovering spiritual health and innocence, particularly if the starting point is a jaded love for self-destruction should join this meet-up. We'll meet weekly and peel one of these novels apar …
They just don't write em' like they used to! We'll have a casual chat about a new classic each time. We can meet whenever and wherever. Not all book clubs have to gather at a coffee shop :-) Some titles already on the list include Anna Karenina, Dracula and Catcher in the Rye. I want the rest of the group to pick some titles, as well. I'm going for a very laid-back kind of gathering. So, let's all put on our smarty pants and share a few laughs and conversation!

This is a group for anyone who enjoys reading books on personal improvement and spirituality, but too often has no one to discuss them with! Sometimes sharing these ideas with other like-minded seekers is the only way to truly manifest them in your life and to bring about positive change. I am interested in a broad range of topics: christianity, buddhism, self-improvement (Wayne Dyer, Deepak Chopra and others like them), meditation, health and wellness, journaling for healing, etc., etc., as wel …
I'm an MFA candidate in creative writing who has recently studied under a fantastic teacher at the top of the comics industry. I have a few books in development, and I'm looking to get together with other creatives in the field. Ideally, this group will put WRITERS together with ARTISTS and hopefully lead to kickstarting some new comics, publishing through Comixology's new indie publishing arm, and/or putting pitches together for big name houses including Image, Vertigo, etc. Think of it as a wa …

Rob and I decided to start this group to help individuals find like minded people to develop spiritually. We plan to read books by such authors as Eckhart Tolle, MarianneĀ Williamson, Wayne Dyer, and Deepak Chopra. We will read a chapter during the week and discuss what we have read during our time together. Our intention is that we can learn more about ourselves and take what we learn to dismantle old beliefs patterns and perceptions that are not serving us and develop new ones that do. Love in …
