A book group for people in Sunnyside and Woodside, Queens (or those who want to come here). Any age, any gender, is welcome. This is a group for people who want to meet others every month or two to talk about a book we've all read (or mostly read. We know, sometimes you hate a book and you just can't finish it. Come tell us how much you hated it and why!), and get to know people near you.
This is book club for people who want to catch up on their modern classics such as Lolita, Catch-22 and On the Road. Book choices will be from the 20th century and on. We have a good group going so far, members coming from all over NYC. You do not have to live in Williamsburg to join! This is simply where the meet-ups will tend to be.
QUBC reviews books from various genres (both fiction and non-fiction). Many of the books reviewed are urban themed. Books are voted upon by club members. Supplementary activities are also incorporated into club meetings on a regular basis. Discussion questions, supplemental materials, and meeting information are maintained on this site. All are welcomed!
Finally... a book club in Williamsburg! We decide on a new book every month- only after polling you, of course. After reading, we'll get together at a local Williamsburg haunt to discuss. Don't worry, we'll come prepared with questions so you won't have to stress over having nothing to say.

I know I can't be the only person in NYC who would loves romance novels. I have been getting so much out of a certain genre of literature that I decided to see if anyone else wanted to read and discuss them. All of these books are terrific depictions of the journey out of emptiness and back into the vitality of being alive. They always inspire. Anyone who finds the topic of re-discovering spiritual health and innocence, particularly if the starting point is a jaded love for self-destruction should join this meet-up. We'll meet weekly and peel one of these novels apar …

This group is for Black conservatives in New York City. Regardless of your party affiliation, if you are tired of the big government, out of control spending, highre taxes, the liberal press, white liberals playing us as nothing but "victims" and the Obama/Pelosi/Reid do-nothing Congress then this is the group for you.

The purpose of this group is to meet other people who have a similar interest in checking out Trinidad's Carnival in 2013. The summer is quickly approaching and reservations need to be made. The cost of everything increases, and the availability of costumes and accomodations decreases the closer we get to the end of the year. If you've heard about it from someone who actually went, it's sooooo much fun...so maybe 2013 is YOUR year to go! Let's meetup and see if we can assist each other in our …

If you want to live a more fulfilled life, first you will want to know your potential, who you really are. Meditation is the route to that knowing. It is the methodology of the science of awareness. Many meditative techniques require one to sit still and silent. But for most of us accumulated stress in our bodymind makes that difficult. Before we can hope to access our inner powerhouse of consciousness, we need to let go of our tensions. Osho Active Meditations have been scientifically designe …

Inspired by the Medved books of the 80s. People get together at my house in Sunnyside every other month, the 4th Sunday of odd months, and we watch and heckle, hillariously bad movies. It's like being in MST3K. People bring munchies or their own lunch. Some bring guest bad movies. No porn or slashers, just over- or underacting, cheap sets, weird writing, and all-out lousy filmmaking. Examples include Project Moonbase, Robot Monster, Massacre Mafia Style, and "Titanic, the Animated Musical!" Th …
