We are a group of book-lovers who meet once a month for a lively discussion. We read both fiction and non-fiction books and are open to all genres except romance. The books are selected 2-3 times a year through a polling process. Active members get to suggest books, then a poll is created to decide on which of those books we will read. We understand that not everyone is able to finish the book before each meeting. Don’t let that stop you from coming to our monthly meetings. There is always a …

Let's get together and bring our charts and our favorite study materials to help us better understand astrology and its effects on us! This group's focus is mostly around studying, reading, sharing and comparing charts, books and other information used to better understand astrology and its concepts. Those joining this group should have some base of knowledge, although I encourage those who still consider themselves "beginners" to definitely come and be a part of! This is not a group focused on …

Wine country is amazing, but we were lacking a book club which fueled me with the idea to start a casual monthly book club. We are a small group who enjoys good books, great restaurants, and even better conversation. Each month, a different member "hosts" the meeting. It is up to that person to choose our book, the restaurant to meet at, and lead our discussion. Any book is fair game (we have read mysteries, historical fiction, memoirs, and much more to come) and any restaurant is open to us …

There are others book clubs around but they are already full or well established. I would like to have just 10-12 ladies that want to share with others the books they enjoy. We will start of in a mutually chosen spot . After we will each host the meetup. She will pick the location, the book and 'run' the meetup. I am looking for women who love to read and share the story with others. Who want to be in a book club, and don't feel they fit in any of the other groups.

I have been a long time book lover and recently have more time on my hands. I have always thought a book club sounded fun with girls who enjoy reading the same types of literature! I recently read Fifty Shades of Grey and couldn't put it down and thought it would be so much fun to get tougher with other ladies (probably between 21 and 35 age range-ish) who may have read this or similar stories (usually romance novels and chick lit type books) to laugh, gossip, drink coffee, wine, or whatever may …
I want to create an environment where groups of young ladies (20s-30s) can share their love of reading in a safe and enjoyable setting. I am always looking for new people to share my interest in reading with and am looking forward to beginning a new group in which to do this! (This was from the original organizer, but the sentiment stands...so, there ya go.) Books are selected entirely online in a discussion board format along with a poll. Members are welcome to suggest books and vote for their …
I enjoy reading, and honestly, I need to make more friends in Portland. (Really, who doesn't? Couldn't we all use more friends? and books to read? Anyway...) My plan for this group is to host one meet-up a month where we will get together to discuss that month's book, and enjoy some food. The first couple will probably be held at a public venue, but I am hopeful to host out of my apartment after I get settled a bit in this role as group leader. I will post other activities as meetups during t …
For anyone badass and passionate about ideas and their real life application. The BA Book club is interested in innovative ideas from sociology, economics, physical sciences, and philosophy but we're open to anything reasonable. Group will meet once a month in a badass pub to discuss that month's book. We're looking for young innovator-types. "Your hosts are two guys in their mid to late 20s". This previous statement is now more of an idea of who our hosts once were...now every member should fe …

Why is this not your average women's book club? 1. We are going to read fun intelligent books that probably won't be on Oprah's list. 2. We are going to meet up in bars and pubs (in the Beavertonish area) instead of living rooms and coffee shops. 3. You don't have to be a big reader, just read a few pages so you can discuss. You will never feel bad for not finishing the book here! 4. Last but not least we wont take ourselves to seriously. This is about meeting new friends and having a good time. …

I can't get enough of the tarot “treasure house of images”. I can't help buying books about the tarot. My reading would be more satisfying if I had others to discuss them with. Let’s meet up to discuss some of our favorite tarot writing, both fiction and non-fiction. FOOL The wise man hears of the Gate and studies the lock every day. The devotee hears of the Gate and tries to squeeze between the bars. The fool hears of the Gate and laughs. Without laughter the Gate would never open. Rachel Po …
