I live in the League City Area and it's difficult to make other book clubs that are all the way on the other side of Houston. I decided it would be fun to start up a book club which meets once a month. We can chow, chat and choose another book for the next time. All women are welcome meaning that if you read, possess a sense of humor and have absolutely zero drama, you're welcome here. The focus of the group will be mostly fiction unless someone can recommend an entertaining non-fiction book. My …

This is a book club for women of color that specializes in building and upholding sisterhood through reading. We are a group of women in our 20's and 30's who enjoy reading and can appreciate good drama free "girl talk". Each month the host will suggest 3-5 books, post the description and members can vote on which one they want to read. We meet the 4th Sunday of every month from 3:00-4:30. At 3:00pm we will begin with a lil "girl talk" and the book discussion will begin at 3:30. We will meet in …

Our group is currently closed to new members as more members would make our meetings unmanageable. This is a local Clear Lake, TX area book club for women who want to read more great fiction. Our general age range for members is 25-45, but we don't card at the door. The theme for the group would be that all the book selections would be from Peter Boxall's list of greatest novels of all time, aka "1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die." Boxall (a British English Professor) compiled the list bas …

Thank you so much for looking into the Get Trapped in a Book Writing Group. Writing a book can be lonely and intimidating when you are trying to go it alone, but often when writers get together they do more talking than writing. This is a friendly but focused group. We work in 45 minute SILENT sessions with a short break. It is not a critique group, not a writing class, not a plotting or brainstorming party and not a workship. We work QUIETLY together. It is for writers who would like the …
Prague Spring is a political discussion group founded in 2003. We are now opening a new chapter in Houston, TX. The group identifies articles or chooses a book for each meeting and engages in a focused, in-depth discussion. Prague Spring’s strength comes from its members' diversity of perspectives from conservative to liberal. Prague Spring welcomes anyone who can offer insight deeper than a TV sound bite, differ respectfully from their peers or simply enjoy an intelligent, informed debate. Ou …

I decided to start this meetup group because I just keep meeting so many people who genuinely love the BBC television show Doctor Who in the Houston area. We always seem to end up sharing common interests, so I decided to start a group to share my love of the show (past, present, and future) and all things sci-fi with others like myself. If you love Doctor Who, science-fiction television, movies, and books...or if you can just get on board with ridiculous conversation, I want you here. If you dr …

You love to learn new skills unique to other cultures. You are charitable, and you support global causes that help to lift up the under-served in our world. You're definitely not a wannabe, because you are genuinely interested in exploring and being part of another culture, and most importantly, you …

I wanted to start this group to meet people who are interested in the area of influence, negotiation, rapport, and other tools of success in various walks of life. I want to keep the discussions open and conducive to multiple methods, ideas, process. The biggest asset of this group as I envision, would be participation and measurable growth of its members. I wanted to start this group off by discussing the classic book "Influence" by Robert Cialdini. I plan to eventually branch off into practica …
