Novel Ideas is a book club that doesn't usually go for the typical book selections. We read whatever anyone in the group suggests so it ends up being a varied set of choices. We meet every two weeks. You are welcome to come to meetings even if you didn't read the book as the purpose is to make new friends and meet people, not just to talk about a book. Here's the deal: Every other week, we meet up and randomly pick a "seed" sentence from a newspaper, website, sign, fortune cookie, whatever. Then we write for thirty minutes, using that sentence as the first in the story. After thirty minutes, anyone who is so inclined can read his story out loud and we can discuss.
