… What About The Books? The books will be easy and fun. Modern fantasy, science fiction, horror, mystery, light literature, mild chick lit, and things of that sort. No heavy Russians as it would take me about three months to get through them with my current life. How Does This Work? There will be a new book discussion on the third Thursday of every month (give or take a few days). Hosting duties will cycle through the members and the host is responsible for picking the book, the theme of the ni …
Join other 20- & 30-something ladies for a monthly brunch meet up to discuss the book of the month! Membership is currently full but may open up again soon! I started this group because I'm new to the Austin area, love to read and other book clubs I wanted to join were already full. This book club is perfect for women in their 20s and 30s north of Austin, including Cedar Park, Round Rock and Georgetown. The book club will meet once a month for a Sunday brunch to discuss that month's book. We m …

I retired early to enjoy life after an all-consuming career, and have been looking for new friends who share the same interests. I love to read, and I love good wine! Do you? Let's get together to discuss a monthly book selection, drink some wine, and enjoy each others' company.
As a newbie to Austin who needs to make some new girlfriends, I thought that creating a group that mixes my love for reading AND my love for good food was a win. It's not only a great way to meet new friends but also a surefire way to get to know some local eateries too! To get an idea of the sorts of books we'll read I would say that most of it will be contemporary fiction, although I'm open! Personally, I read mostly fiction and quite a lot of YA, especially fantasy/sci-fi.
Our group is temporarily closed to new members. We anticipate opening to new members again Winter 2010/Spring 2011. Please email if you'd like to be added to our waiting list and contacted when we reopen the group. Thanks for your interest! Never been part of a book club? Neither have I. Let’s learn together! This is the place to read interesting books and get to know other 20s-30s women in Austin. We’ll choose the books as we go based on recommendations from the group. From bestsellers and c …

… Before I get into some background and go off on my long description (hehe), I will abbreviate my "description" for this group: This is intended to be an open forum and *community* in which any person (whether he/she is very familiar with Conversations with God, or has never read any of the books) may come to study and discuss the content of these books directly, and also come and expand on the content with personal experiences; unique ideas; and additional teachings from relevant subjects which …

ATTENTION WRITERS: No Meetups will be scheduled this summer. We will resume in the fall. Each month we read and discuss a book devoted to the craft of writing. "Do I have to read the book?" Although technically not required, it is preferred. Although the discussion can move off onto tangents, the focus will be primarily on the contents of the book. However, if you do not have time to read the entire book, reading SOME of it is perfectly acceptable. Even digesting a few o …
This group is called Misty Curious because I'm posting events that I am curious about. Just expect it to be deep and thought provoking!

Have you seen a UFO? Do you believe we are not alone in the Universe? Perhaps you have memories or daydreams of contact with beings from other planets or other dimensions? In my work as a regressionist, I am seeing more and more clients with these types of experiences. On April 22 Steven Jones, lifelong Experiencer comes to Austin to talk about his new book, "An Invitation to the Dance" He believes, and the other beings have shared with him the idea that we are connected to all of life, includin …
Unfortunately, right now our club is full. Please check back in a few months if still interested. We like to keep it small so meaningful discussion can take place. So, at this time, no pendings are being accepted. Thank you.

Come exercise your writing muscles! Our current book is Naming The World, edited by Bret Anthony Johnston. There are so many good exercises for group work that we will go through the book at least twice. For those who want a book to use on their own, NTW has plenty of exercises that work well for the individual developing their writing skills. Each section has favorite exercises in the writing craft from 9 or more authors who both write and teach writing. Many of these are suitable for group wo …

This group is for anyone interested in learning more about Toltec wisdom and how to apply that wisdom in daily life. Although there are many definitions of "wisdom," my belief is that wisdom comes from applying knowledge to experience to discern the truth. So, my intention is not just to discuss knowledge that can be read in books -- it is to learn from what happens next, when that knowledge is applied to everyday experiences. My intention is also to provide the Toltec tools to the group that …

With a desire to share this wonderful resource called the Akashic Records, our meetup offers classes to help you become a practitioner (or simply for your own personal use), and to deepin the level of the work. On occasion, you can begin your exploration by coming to a book study group based on How to Read the Akashic Records by Linda Howe. (Check our Message Board for helpful information about the Records.) NOTE: The six-week book study group is NOT a class in how to access the Records, but yo …
